Simple syrup is the best way to sweeten any cold beverage, from Agua Fresca to iced tea or a Mojito. It will keep in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks, so I make a large batch to have on hand.
In future posts, I’ll include recipes for creating simple syrup variations with fresh fruit and herb infusions that will knock your socks off.
Makes 2 cups
- 2 cups water
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- Combine the water and the sugar in a saucepan. Stir to mix. Place over medium-high heat to dissolve the sugar.
- As soon as the syrup comes to a rolling boil and is completely clear (all of the sugar is dissolved), remove it from the heat. Let it cool and the refrigerate the syrup in a sealed container.
